Based on the H.G. Wells novel The Island of Dr. Moreau. Newborn finds the titular surgeon as he has just created his first female creature. The works of H.G. Welles has fascinated me since I was a little girl. I wanted to try creating a short about the push and pull of gender dynamics. I hope that what watchers take away from Newborn is the sense that even if someone made you, you can follow your own path, not the one they chose for you.
