Guni Singh, who is blessed with wealth, prosperity and honour, always performs charity and good deeds to get children. Still, when he does not get any benefit, Guni Singh gets Brihaspati Vrat Katha performed at his home on the advice of Acharya Shridhar. Lord Brihaspati himself comes in the guise of a saint to bless him. But Lord Brihaspati, angered by the misbehaviour of Guni Singh's atheist wife Vichitra, blesses Guni Singh and curses Vichitra and leaves. Guni Singh has a child, but he is dumb. Guni Singh then observes Thursday fast and worships. Sachitra insults the Lord who comes in the guise of a saint. Due to which all of Guni Singh's wealth and property is destroyed. Guni Singh brings up his son in great misery and poverty. When Manuj grows up, he gets him married to Nitya, the girl of his choice, which Vichitra does not like. To get Manuj married to the girl of her choice, Ramya, Vichitra, along with her mother and brother, tortures Nitya in many ways and slanders her and throws her out of the house. The house falls apart due to Vichitra's bad deeds. The son and husband leave the house, become ascetics and start wandering. Finally, Guni Singh meets his daughter-in-law, Nitya, and to set everything right again, he performs Brihaspati Vrat Katha in Shridhar's Gurukul, and everything becomes fine again.
