When a mysterious sound hypnotizes everyone on earth, a man, John, seems to be the only one left unaffected. He tries to save his pregnant wife, Jane, but she will not be stopped and she is called by the mysterious sound to leave, even at her own peril. As she walks in a trance to an unknown destination, John follows. Along the way he meets another unaffected survivor and is tempted to leave and start anew. He meets a man only half affected by the signal, who gives him terrifying insight into what is happening. When the affected finally reach their final destination, John cannot possibly be fathom what they have been called to.
