In the foreign city of Seoul, Chinese student Xiuzhen once stood on the edge of her dream-offered a chance to stay in Korea through a talent show and pursue life on stage. But the promise soon curdled into a trap: under pressure from her agency, she underwent cosmetic surgery, which failed catastrophically and cost her her left eye-along with her freedom to choose. Crushed by debt, she was forced into a shadowy massage parlor, where shame and silence gradually numbed her, turning her into a body to be watched, but never truly seen. One night, during a private service, she stumbled into the shattered fantasy of a dying old man and met Misun, a middle-aged woman hiding her past and pain. Their lives mirrored each other-both lost, both trying to survive. For a moment, warmth flickered. Then came betrayal. Affection became a snare; trust, a transaction. And piece by piece, she was uprooted. Beneath the blinding white light, Xiuzhen pressed a paper eye over her wound, dressed in clothes left behind by someone else, and stepped back into the room that had once stripped her of dignity. There, she danced-a dance grotesque, defiant, and final. In that moment, her body collapsed under the gaze, and was reborn within it. She no longer performed for the world. She danced only for herself.
