Following his retirement in 2021 at the age of 33, just as he was expecting his second child, Flores began experiencing debilitating migraines and unexplained fatigue. Medical investigations revealed a serious brain tumor at the base of his brain, a diagnosis that upended his life just as he hoped for rest after an intensive professional career. Surgery in October 2022 marked the beginning of his greatest personal challenge. The operation succeeded in removing most of the tumor but lingering fragments require quarterly MRI monitoring. Flores faced daunting recovery tasks: relearning basic functions like speaking, writing and reading, and reconciling with memory loss that distanced him from even his children. Decked with archival competition footage, personal moments, and insightful interviews, including with surfing legend Kelly Slater and family, Dos au Mur portrays Flores' indomitable spirit and determination to rebuild. He sets a new goal: to reclaim his position in the world of surfing and carry his legacy forward despite the uncertainty and vulnerability he now faces. The documentary premiered in Paris in early June 2025 and has since traveled the festival and surf-culture circuit. At just 90 minutes, it stands as a powerful testament to resilience, identity, and the drive to overcome even when one's back feels completely against the wall.
