Norman Ives is a tinker who likes to restore old music boxes from an age the world has left behind. In a world where most people have recycled their old bodies for new ones, he is reluctant to replace the one that has carried him through his sixty-three years of life. His doctor, his friends, and his wife tell him he is crazy to delay the transfer into a new and younger body. Life is waiting for him, and death approaches as his old body degrades. Why would anyone not want to get back the youth that the ravages of time have taken. Why hold onto something that is nearing death when he could gain something that is alive?
