About this movie

Mrs. Ngo, 50 years old, lives alone in her late husband's family home, fully devoted to maintaining her in-laws' burial ground. Yet, she harbors a guilty pleasure-vivid, passionate dreams that she finds both thrilling but deeply embarrassing at the same time. Though she's ashamed to admit it, those dreams bring her immense joy. Whenever she visits the market, Mrs. Ngo is met with teasing and crude jokes from a rough-mannered rice seller who flirts with her, often slipping her small saplings as gifts. She secretly plants them in her garden. Somehow, the man's coarse humor and unpolished charm seep into her dreams, further unsettling her. One day, Hung, Mrs. Ngo's only son and a snake farmer, suffers a workplace accident. Being highly superstitious, he believes something unnatural is interfering with his fate. A fortune teller - someone Hung trusts deeply - warns him that his misfortune is an omen, a sign that his late father's spirit is angry. When Hung shares this with his mother, Mrs. Ngo feels a flicker of guilt but quickly reassures herself. After all, they were only dreams. She has done nothing to betray her husband. However, Hung's misfortunes escalate, his accidents growing more severe, even life-threatening. The fortune teller suggests that Mrs. Ngo has been unfaithful in some way, and Hung begins to believe it. Panicked, Mrs. Ngo desperately searches for ways to rid herself of the dreams through both spiritual rituals and medical treatments, fully aware that if she succeeds, she will be left in the depths of utter loneliness.
